What with the now trending and most-awaited Olympics, it’s a privilege PRIVILEGE to be a part of the team representing your own country competing with world-class athletes and by simply being in the moment. In the world of Philippine swimming, two names are on the honor roll: Jasmine Alkhaldi and Jesse Lacuna.
Knowing that this pretty girl (yes, I admit that I admire her dearly since 2006. Haha!) was one to represent our country, I was ecstatic! Not only that I’m proud for Jasmine, but because I’ve been to heaps of competition with her! Immediately, I searched the internet wanting to share the proof.
Since we’re not on the same age bracket, it’s quite hard to search for the most appropriate one that I could share on here. Fortunately, the least I had was this! Results of the Palarong Pambansa 2006 at Naga City (the most memorable Palaro competition for me) ON. THE. SAME. PAGE!!!
I know, I may be blabbing my head off with this but come on, she’s now an Olympian! I have every right to be proud of it! (LOL)
Being a swimmer way back, I know these two maybe young (Jasmine’s younger than I am!) but they are equally competent and strong swimmers and I’m just sooooo proud of them. HEAD CAPS AND GOGGLES OFF TO YOU GUYS! \m/

Random Me #5: Resorted to Stabilo pens (which are also great…but) since I can’t find a store here that sells my favorite Staedtler colored pens. I’ve been searching EVERYWHERE since day 1 but surprisingly I found nothing (in the big city of CEBU!). Timecheck: 1:00AM.
July 21, 2012: All girls impromptu family pic!
For the past 19 years, distance was really a barrier for us. We weren’t there to celebrate the good (and the bad) times with each other as a family. We know names, not the faces. But now that I’m living in Cebu for good, at the same building with my Tita (mom’s sister) and her family, we’re making sure everyday’s a family gathering (compensating on those 19 years lost). Now, taking an impromptu family picture is a breeze. <3

Another late welcome-new-month post. 5 weeks of med school has passed by and a LOT has happened. Joined the swim team (Yay! For there is one.), learned a bajillion things, answered a bajillion exams, won a photo contest (Double YAY! for it’s my first time to join ever), aaaaaaaaaaand….. finally saw and dissected my first ever cadaver (thus the dissection-ready photo).
One fact about me: I’m a scaredy cat. I even wonder why I proceeded into this field when a small sound at midnight would already give me the chills. But finally seeing one, finally touching one, and finally dissecting one didn’t turn out so bad after all. No upset stomach, no nauseous feeling, and no chills upon going home after. Instead, it made me see how truly amazing the human body is. That our simple body is actually one complex system.
I learned where the pectoralis major is, I learned that the breasts are made up mostly of fats and I learned how to differentiate a vein from an artery but what really dawned on me was what I learned for myself. Thin or fat. Short or tall. Big boobs or not. We are all made up of the same complex organs, all breathing the same air and all arriving at the same fate. Thin or fat, short or tall, big boobs or not. It doesn’t matter entirely. What we should think of is that as long as our body and soul is healthy, we should be happy and thankful. God is great, and deserves our recognition.
Without them, learning is impossible. I thank and pray for their families. May their souls rest in peace.

Wow, your work relationship is older than me Moms! Thank you for being such a responsible and hard-working mother that you are. Juggling motherhood with work is no easy task but you’ve handled it pretty well. You do not just touched my life, but the lives of the students and the teachers you’ve handled as well. (FOR 24 YEARS!) Again, thank you Moms. That despite the distance from me to you, my being sometimes hard-headed and the tiresomeness of simply being a teacher and a mother, you’re not giving up.
